A Special Box

Recommended Resource:

Special Box/Tin/Bag This can be decorated or left as it is. Can the children guess what is in the bag by feeling it? Shake the box/tin - what can they hear?

How can this be used? During small group circle time/Key Person time this can be used to hide several props or a single prop in. The tin/bag/box helps to gain children's attention and sustain their interest. It can be adapted to suit any age and stage of development. This could be linked to a story & then used for story telling, or songs & nursery rhymes, or as an object of special interest. This will help to initiate discussion and spark their imagination.  Use open- ended questions to develop language and communication. For example, I wonder why? What would happen if? What do you think...?
Where can I find this resource: Biscuit/sweet tins can be saved after Christmas or sometimes more unusual resources can be found in your local charity shops.
