Early Years Consultant (Inclusion, Learning & Development)

In Lincolnshire, Early Years Consultants support the development of high quality Early Years Foundation Stage provision for children from birth to five. This team primarily support Private, Voluntary and Independent  (PVI) Practitioners. Every Nursery, Pre-school, Playgroup and Day Care Centre accessing Early Years Education Entitlement will have an Early Years Consultant nominated to the Setting.

The role of the Early Years Consultant includes:

  • Supporting the implementation of the EYFS in Private, Voluntary and Independent (PVI) Settings across Lincolnshire
  • Promoting the development of inclusive practice in Early Years Settings
  • Supporting and empowering settings to implement the Special Educational Needs (SEN) Code of Practice effectively
  • Supporting workforce development through in-service training (INSET) sessions and staff meetings for settings
  • Providing post- Ofsted inspection advice and support to early years providers
  • Liaising with Settings  through local cluster groups
  • Providing support for the transition between Playgroups, Pre-Schools, Nurseries, Children’s Centres and Schools
  • Supporting the implementation of the moderation process for the Early Years Foundation Stage Profile
  • Working alongside Early Years Curriculum Advisers, Children Centre Teachers and other Professionals to develop quality of provision within settings, as appropriate.
Angela Barley

BA (Hons) from the University of Essex in Literature, PGCE (Primary) from BGC in Lincoln and MA in Education (Applied linguistics) from the Open University. KS1/Foundation teacher for seven and a half years (including five mixed age classes). Literacy leader for the past four years in school. Particular interests in mixed age teaching and combining EYFS and National Strategies, also developing the outdoor learning environment.

Sarah BarrattSarah Barratt

English graduate with PGCE specialising in Early Years. Ten years teaching experience in KS1 and FS in Oxfordshire, Birmingham and Lincolnshire.  Senior Management Team member, Foundation Stage Leader and Literacy co-ordinator. Mentored many student teachers and NQTs. Keen interest in working with NQTs, TAs and under 3’s provision. Recently completed Advanced Diploma in Birth to Three Development and Learning.

Morag Bingley

Morag Bingley has over 20 years experience in Early Years as Nursery Teacher, Foundation Stage Coordinator, SMT member and Assistant Head in schools in Nottinghamshire and has recently completed her NPQH. She has also worked with 4 to 14 year olds within the pupil referral unit provision. Additional responsibilities have included student training, extended care provision and staff professional development. She was a full time mum for 8 years until her 2 children went to school and has been on school governing bodies, playscheme and playgroup committees.

Her particular interests include parent partnerships, learning in the outdoors, developing staff teams and promoting the creative curriculum.

Jayne CarterJayne Carter

BA (Hons) with QTS, specialising in Early Years with fourteen years teaching experience in KS1 and FS in Lincolnshire and also Nursery Leader within a school in Manchester. Senior Management Team member and Foundation Stage/KS1 Coordinator. Experience as Numeracy co-ordinator, SENCO, mentor for students and graduates and responsibility for drama, dance and creative arts. Achieved EYPS in September 2008. Interested in the development of the outdoor learning environment and transition from F1/2 and F2/KS1. Currently responsibile for the line management of Children Centre Teachers in the North team.

Sarah DaltonSarah Dalton

Degree in Experimental Psychology - Sussex University. Two years experience working with children with special educational needs in a home-care situation. PGCE. Teacher in Handsworth in Birmingham for 3 years in KS1. Teacher Governor for 2 years. Career break for 5 years to have 3 children. 5 years at Hawthorn Tree School in Boston. Role of Senco, Senior Management Team and Management of Teaching Assistants. Joined Birth to Five Services in September 2003. Currently responsibile for the line management of Children Centre Teachers in the Central team.

Sarah Howe

Sarah Howe joined the team in September 2007.  She has a BA (Ed) and brings with her twenty years of teaching experience. The majority has been in Infant Schools in Lincolnshire, Belgium and Dubai. Her responsibilities have included leading and managing three Infant Schools, Headship duties in two British International Schools and Governor responsibilities. Particular interests include promoting creativity, developing enabling environments and supporting Newly Qualified Teachers in the Early Years.

Sarah LaneSarah Lane

Graduated in 1988 with a BEd specialising in children with SEN and later completed ACE in autism.  Worked in a range of schools for children with moderate and severe learning difficulties and was teacher in charge of a primary unit for children with autism.  Worked in the Assessment Class at a Nursery School before joining BFS as an Early Years Advisory Teacher. Trained to lead NAS EarlyBird programmes and has Stage 1 British Sign Language.

Lauraine Leroy

Lauraine joined the service in Sept 2003 and has worked for 0-5 service for 5 years.
Her role within the service is Moderation Co-ordinator. She qualified with a B.Ed Honours Degree at Derbyshire, specialising in early years and literacy.She has taught for 13 years, in the London Borough of Redbridge, Nottinghamshire, and Lincolnshire. She is a member of AAIA, and EYE and is interested in assessment for learning. Currently responsibile for the line management of Children Centre Teachers in the South team.

Kirstyn CanadineKirstyn Moffat

Specialist KS1 and Early Years Teacher for 15 years. Set up and managed 52 place Nursery for 3 year olds. Head of KS1 and Early Years in large urban school. Headteacher of a Primary School for 6 years followed by a career break for 3 years to have 2 children. M.A. in Primary Education and Leadership & Management N.P.Q.H. Assessor for NVQ in Childcare. Chair of Governors & Preschool Committee member Joined Birth to Five Service on a part time basis from September 2007. Particular interest in transition from preschool to school, and the impact of the learning environment.

Vicky MeagerVicky Meager

Vicky's teaching experience has been in the Foundation Stage and throughout Key Stage One. During Vicky's career she has been a Deputy Headteacher, Art Co-Ordinator, History and Geography Co-Ordinator, Community Development Officer, Literacy Support and Early Years Co-Ordinator. She has had the pleasure of teaching in a school that was assessed as outstanding by Ofsted. As an Advanced Skills Teacher in the Foundation Stage, Vicky was involved in sharing her skills with other teachers in the county as well as supporting NQT's.

 

Paula ParkerPaula Parker

Early Years Advisory Teacher and has been with the Service since Jan 2005. Classroom teacher from 1991 working across the whole Infant age range but mostly in Reception and Nursery. Worked in Stoke-on-Trent and the Staffordshire Moorlands before coming to Lincolnshire in 2002. Previous experience includes subject leader for PE, Geography and Literacy; Curriculum Development Co-ordinator; Foundation Stage and KS1 Co-ordinator; Teacher Governor and Mentor to Newly Qualified Staff.

Kate Powell

Kate joined the team in January 2009. She graduated with a B.Ed (Honours) from Southampton University, specialising in English. Kate taught in Lincolnshire and Buckinghamshire for 6 years in KS1 and FS and was FS and Literacy Co-ordinator. During this time Kate mentored student teachers and enjoyed the role of teacher governor.
Kate has 8 years experience as an Ofsted Early Years Inspector, regulating and inspecting EYFS providers throughout the Midlands. In this role, Kate delivered Ofsted training programmes, managed a team of inspectors, and contributed towards Early Years publications.
Kate’s particular interests include leadership and management and raising quality.


Janice ReidJanice Reid

Birth to Five Service Teacher since 2003. Previously twenty years teaching experience covering age-range 4 – 16. Experience includes SMT, SENCo, Nurture Group Teacher, Teacher Governor, Mentor and Student of Farmington Institute, Oxford. Qualifications: B.Ed.Hons, M.Ed.in SEN (Behaviour, Social and Emotional Difficulties), NPQH. Author of published educational research papers in 2002 and 2008. Special interest in social, emotional and behavioural development.

Helen Rutherford

Helen Rutherford

Helen (BEd Hons) joined the service in September 08. Worked in schools, across Lincolnshire from Nursery to KS2. She has worked as a SEN teacher, member of senior management team, run Family Learning Groups, mentored NQTs and TAs and supported Reception teachers in Lincolnshire. Has a Diploma in Playgroup Practice and worked in Playgroups.In her previous school she was Foundation Stage Leader and taught in the Foundation Stage Unit.
Particular interests include Transition and supporting Foundation Stage Units, and observation, assessment and record keeping.

Amy StancerAmy Stancer
North Team Consultant

Foundation Stage Curriculum Adviser for three years. BA (Hons) with QTS, from the University of Durham, specialising in Early Years. She has C.P.S.E. in Early Years and achieved EYPS in 2007. Has experience of working in KS1 and Early Years settings and schools in Lincolnshire, Northumberland and Durham. Has experience of working in mixed age. She has leadership and management experience and has supported teachers in the role of SENCO and NQT mentor. Interested in the development of the learning environment, supporting the learning journey and transitions throughout the early years. Keen to support approaches to heuristic and renewable resource play from birth to five and beyond.

Jenny StapletonJenny Stapleton

Joined the Birth to Five Service in January 2008. Qualified with a BA(Hons) with QTS (1996) and  PGC in SEN Provision (2002). Taught in Lincolnshire for 11 years in FS and KS1 with the responsibilities of Senior Leadership Team member, SENCo, subject leader for music and geography, Nurture Group Manager, Teacher Governor and Mentor to students and Newly Qualified Staff. Particular interests include transition from early years settings into schools and moderation of the EYFS Profile.

Amisha Stanney

Amisha graduated in 2001 with Bed (Hons) in Primary education with a specialism in the Early Years.  She has been teaching for 9 years in schools across London and Leicestershire working with children and families from varying social backgrounds.  Amisha has a wealth of experience of working with children with EAL, SEN and behavioural issues.  She has been Foundation Stage Coordinator for 7 years as well as RE, History, PSHCE and she has been part of the SMT in previous posts.  Amisha joined the Birth to Five Service in January 2010 and is particularly interested in developing learning in the outdoor area and supporting parents/carers in understanding the impact of their interactions on their children’s development.

Viki ThomasViki Thomas

Joined Birth to Five Service in Sept 08 as Early Years Advisory Teacher. LLB (Hons) from Huddersfield University in Law, PGCE (Primary) from Bishop Grosseteste College in Lincoln graduating in 2000. Class teacher for eight years, working as an early years teacher and SENCo in a variety of schools including a nursery assessment class.

Anna TufnellAnna Tuffnell

A History graduate with a PGCE focussed towards the primary school age range (3 to 8 years). Has taught for 8 years across both key‑stages in a Lincolnshire primary school, and has experience with mixed-aged classes. Has co-ordinated mathematics, history and planning. Joined the Birth-to-Five Service in September 2007.

Penny WainwrightPenny Wainwright

BEd (Hons) from Leeds University (1976) in English.
Worked in Cleveland and Lincolnshire as nursery, reception, KS1 and SEN teacher in maintained and special schools. Main responsibilities have included whole school SENCo, Foundation stage Coordinator and KS1 Coordinator. Joined EYSS in January 2003 on secondment as Curriculum adviser and obtained permanent post in September 2003 providing Area SENCo/QTS support in the South Team.

Louise WhitwellLouise Whitwell

Louise qualified with a BA (Hons) in English with Qualified Teacher Status in 1997. She began teaching in an infant school in Norfolk, which had a unit for children with SEN until 2001. Louise then moved to teach at a special school in Lincolnshire, for children with moderate learning difficulties. The school also had an integrated unit for children Autistic Spectrum Disorder. Louise taught in reception/Year 1 for two years and then worked for the Autistic Outreach team in South Lincolnshire. Louise achieved her Post-graduate certificate in Autism during this period. She joined the Birth to Five Service as an Early Years Advisory teacher in 2005.
