Pathways to Becoming an EYP

Candidates within Lincolnshire are eligible to apply to both The University of Northampton and The University of Derby.

EYP Pathways from Jan 2012 -

Pathway Audience Entry Requirements Course details Venue, dates and times
Graduate Practitioner Pathway (GPP)

You must have a full and relevant degree with experience within the Early Years Sector.
You may have small gaps in your knowledge and understanding, for example, within a particular age group. These must be able to be addressed within the 6 month duration of the pathway.

Full Level 6 (BA) in a relevant subject.
GCSE Maths and English at a Grade C or above.
CRB check.
Effective written and oral communication skills in English.
Recent and relevant experience within the 0-5 age range.
References to support your application.

6 months duration to include 3 taught sessions and optional workshops to address gaps in knowledge and experience.
On line learning opportunities will be available to support your knowledge and understanding of the standards.

Undergraduate Practitioner Pathway (UPP)

You must hold a full and relevant Level 5, for example, the Early Years Foundation Degree. You may also have a full Level 6 (BA) in a non relevant subject with some experience in the Early Years Sector.

Full and relevant Level 5 – Early Years Foundation Degree.
Full Level 6 (BA) in a non relevant subject.
Recent and relevant experience within the 0-5 age range.
GCSE Maths and English at a Grade C or above.
CRB check.
Effective written and oral communication skills in English.

12 month duration.
Attendance required at University 1 day per week between January and June.
Preparation for the EYP standards assessment between September and December.  
2 modules:
Leadership, Management and Support.
Developing as an EYP.

Graduate Entry Pathway You may have a Level 6 (BA) in a non relevant subject with no experience in the Early Years Sector but a desire to change career path.

Full Level 6 (BA) in a non relevant subject.
GCSE Maths and English at a Grade C or above.
CRB check.
Effective written and oral communication skills in English.
Recent and relevant experience within the 0-5 age range.

This is a full time pathway offered over 12 months.
18 weeks taught programme.
18 weeks placement.
Placement work over the Summer with a family, Childminder and a multi professional team.
In mid October you will begin a long term placement which will be your final placement to complete your EYP assessment.
